A Letter to the President: Expressing my concerns, Shaping the future

October 19,2023

President, Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr.

President, Republic of the Philippines

Malacanang Palace, Manila

Dear Mr. President,

As a student, I wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to share my thoughts and concerns on topics that are important to me and other students.

To begin with, let me express my gratitude for your efforts to highlight the importance of education and acknowledge its value while considering the future of our country. Access to high-quality education is critical for each individual's development and performance, as well as the nation's overall economic prosperity.

I would like to ask for your continued assistance in ensuring that every student, regardless of background or financial condition, has an equal chance to attend a high-quality education.

Furthermore, I feel that it is crucial to address the growing expense of higher education. Many students have massive financial responsibilities while pursuing their academic goals, which can make it difficult for them to fully devote themselves to their education and limit their future options. I humbly request your consideration on this matter and strongly urge you to investigate ways to make higher education more accessible and affordable for everybody.

Moreover, worries concerning students' mental health are becoming more prevalent. The pressures and problems we face can frequently have a negative influence on our well-being. I suggest that you focus on providing mental health resources and help within educational institutions, ensuring that students seek out mental health care and other critical social support systems.

We will be the leaders of tomorrow. To create a brighter future for future generations, I respectfully urge that you prioritise environmental legislation that supports sustainability, renewable energy, and conservation activities.

I respectfully appreciate you taking the time to evaluate my concerns. I'm hopeful you'll keep advocating for the issues that affect us very deeply. I think that by tackling these concerns, we can ensure a brighter future for all children as well as our country.

Yours sincerely,

Lucy Espiritu
